SECOND up with Style Interview- Caroline

NEXT TOPIC
Hello world, for today's post, I decided to interview someone I do know,
Whom I defintely think has a descent and classy style. It's all about fashion influences!

Here is the 2nd one to come up with one of my closest beautiful friend Caroline coming straight from Boston, originally from Switzerland

CAROLINE - STYLE INTERVIEW

Can you define today's fashion trend in general for the year of 2013 for men as well as for women ?

Sport chic I would say. Fashion became classier. It also get inspired by the 80’s.

So you're coming from Switzerland and live in Boston any differences of style dressing ? how would you describe the style over there ?

I would say that Switzerland always falls behind. People are reluctant to try new things. Best example will be rubber boots. I have been wearing them for 2 or 3 years and it is only now that people are starting to wear them. Before most people would make fun of rubber boots.

Where do you get your inspiration from ? Streets, magazines ?

From everywhere. Streets, magazines, social network, TV, billboard. If you look around, you will always find inspiration.

DULCECANDY FROM INSTAGRAM ONE OF THE MOST VIEWED FASHIONISTA

How would you describe your style?

That is a good question. I think I always go with my mood. Your style defines yourself. People tend to tell me that I have a classic way of dressing but always according to new trend. I am not what that means.

Any colour you like wearing in particular?

Black

Who are your fashion icons ?

I don’t have any particular icon. But if I have to choose I would maybe say dulcecandy, a girl on instagram.

Any specific store you go to? Which one and why those places ?

Zara, Mango, H&M… I always find something and it is affordable.

Do you work in the fashion industry?

I don’t.

Do you feel like fashion has upgraded or degraded ? Do you think people dress less sophisticatedly or too sexy ?

I would say fashion has upgraded but people have degraded. They do not understand how to match clothes.

A little too sexy I’d say. Girls don’t understand that a nice dress is supposed to be either short or with a neckline, not both.

What is your favourite trend of the moment and why?

Back to the 60’s. Classier and more sophisticated. It goes with my ambition :)

Any fashion show you've been too and which one was your favourite?

The only fashion show I have been to is a fashion show from Bybeenk, owned by a Swiss girl and not very famous yet.

Do you think dance and fashion could be combined ? The way dancers dressed , do you think it can have an impact on our daily lives in terms of dressing ?

I guess so. I know a couple of dancers that launched a clothes brand.

Some people are "born" with style and/ or elegance , some learn within the years. Did always have a style?

Honestly, I have to say no. I got interested to fashion when I was 15, but it is only when I turned 20, that I figure out MY style.

For me there's 3 type of categories when it comes to shopping either having a focus on - the price - quality - brand In which one would you find yourself?

Before I would have say quality. Since now I am a full-time student I have to say price.

What would be the "nay" in fashion ? An item that shouldn't be worn or items or prints that shouldn't be mixed together ?

Loose bottom and loose top. Seriously you cannot. Either you were a wide skirt and a tights shirt or the opposite.

What's your favourite piece of items to wear ? Shoes , accessories , shoes?

SHOES and dresses.

And finally any favourite season to dress up? And why?

Spring. In spring everything is allowed. Skirt and jeans.

Having an open minded person for style just like her you will definitely get inspired. Ladies take notes!

Well lots of people wear Jordan and camo type of clothing that come from expensive stores like shoe palace, hot topic, pacsun, zumiez, vans, etc
Where do you get your inspiration from ? Streets, magazines ?

I got my inspiration from a dancer and what I noticed is if you want to make it big and be noticed you have to dress up cute or cool in some way.

I don't really like to wear what other people wear to much but some people have my style which is wearing button up shirts.

Any fashion show you've been too and which one was your favorite?

Nope.

As a dancer , do you think dance and fashion could be combined ?
The way dancers dressed , do you think it can have an impact on our daily lives in terms of dressing ?

Yes I highly believe this. Yes it can because it will help us get noticed. For example, me ever since I changed my style I gained a lot of fan girls and attention.

Some people are "born" with style and/ or elegance , some learn within the years. Did you always have a style?

I learned later on to fit in. Back then I never had style, I just wore whatever I felt like.

For me there's 3 type of categories when it comes to shopping either having a focus on - the price
             - quality
             - brand
In which one would you find yourself?

For me it's always been the quality.

What would be the "nay" in fashion ? An item that shouldn't be worn or items or prints that shouldn't be mixed together ?

Well for sure the fashion now whatever you wear on top like a T-shirt or Jacket it has to go with the color of your shoes.

What's your favorite piece of items to wear ? Shoes , accessories , ...?

Well me it has to be ear rings because it also helps you be noticed lie I switch off time to time.

And finally any favorite season to dress up? And why?

Summer because that's all I have :)

Which era would you say had a great style ?Ex: the 60's 80's , etc

To be honest I say now is the greatest style.

Hope you all got inspired or informed or simply enjoyed reading this delicious article.
Bon apetit!

Photographer du jour

PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE DAY: RAYMOND CROFT

THE PHOTOGRAPHER HIMSELF

Shooting between New York and New Jersey, this talented photographer doesn't lose any minutes to have his photographs speak to us. Described more as a high editorial fashion look, from portrait to runaway and celebreties,
his work is circulating all around the world.
And let me tell you this: his style and dedication is being well seen.
So get to know him better through the interview!

Hello how are you doing ? So I am seeing you are a multi tasker, by being a photographer , designer and a director how did you start all of this? And how do you manage your time ?
Honestly, I've always had a love for the arts in general, all the types. So literally I picked up the equipment one day and it all went from there. In terms of managing my time, I have to really be organized and efficient with my time and scheduling. Since I juggle so much, I don't really have to much room to not use my time wisely.

PHOTOGRAPHER: RAYMOND CROFT

As a fashion photographer how do you get inspired?
I look for everything to inspire me; books, movies, newspapers, paintings, you name it I look at it. Looking at all types of mediums for inspiration and ideas in my opinion opens your eyes, you tend to start to look at things from several perspectives. It gives your work some depth and what ultimately will make it unique from others.

Who are the photographers that inspire you and why?
One of my favorite photographers would have to be Helmut Newton, his work was iconic, and definitely gives me a lot of inspiration through his use of emotion.

Are you mainly focused into fashion or other types such as portrait, buildings?
I am mainly focused into fashion photography with a blend of portraiture and lifestyle. However, I can always appreciate beautiful landscape photography and all others at that.

Where do you mainly work and do take photos at different destinations?

I mainly work in New York, and sometimes in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. And yes, I take photos at several different locations and I'm always on the hunt for new and fresh ones. The last thing you want as a photographer is for people to be aware of your locations after a while, always keep them guessing.

Any upcoming projects ?
Yes, I some dope upcoming collaborations with several magazines and model agencies in the near future for you guys.

As a professional photographer do you find it harder to find a clientele now that Instagram is using tons of editing tools ? Does it make harder to find people ?
Actually it's been the exact opposite, Instagram and social media in general has really gave the new wave of photographers and artists an outlet to show their work. In past times, there were a lot of great artists who no one really knew about, nowadays, everyone has the fair chance of showcasing their talent, it really is a blessing to say the least.

Any tips to anyone who would like to follow your path? (just like me!)
What would be your best advice ?
What I usually tell anyone that asks me advice or how I have gotten to where I'm at is that I don't care, and I repeat, I don't care how good you think you are, how good you've been doing or how good other people think you are. You can always be better, so as long as you have that mindset to strive to continue to improve at all times, their will never be a reason why you don't succeed in your dreams.

For all of you who are interested into his photography, do take a look at this link below.
I myself got blown away!

Photographer du Jour

PHOTOGRAPHER: CARA

On today's post one of the most talented fashion photographer to look out for!
Fall is not only about blog posts on fashion trends but also to discover the world's given artists such as
fashion designers, stylists, models, fashion bloggers and of course fashion photographers!

Starting with Cara coming straight from Seattle.

THE PHOTOGRAPHER HERSELF

Without making you guys wait longer here is the interview

Hello how are you doing ? So where are you from and  how did you start all of this?

Hi! I'm originally from Seattle but grew up in Phoenix Arizona. I took photography classes in high school and fell in love with it but never fully pursued it until about a year ago. I moved to LA to model when I was 18 and quit by the time I was 21, couch surfed for a while in search of what was next and landed on photography.

Did you take any degree to become what you are today ?

I didn't, never went to college. I may someday, for now my education comes from life and the people I surround myself with.

As a fashion photographer how do you get inspired?
So many things... People absolutely, I can't tell you how many times I'll pull the creepy photographer line "I'd love to shoot you" to strangers. But I think the fact that I'm a woman and not a sleezy dude tends to work in my favor.

Who are your icons in terms of photographers and why?
I think Harper Smith is fantastic. Ben Cope. Jessica Yatrofsky is incredible. All three of them have such different styles but they are so spot on with everything they produce, so inspiring.

Are you mainly focused into fashion or other types such as portrait, buildings, kids ?
I love fashion photography but I do feel drawn to shoot more contemporary art "real people" not to say models aren't real. I just like the look of every day people, comfortable in their own skin and add an element of surprise. I'd like to shoot something that makes people think, not just a beautiful face.

Where do you mainly work and do take photos at different destinations? Do you have your own studio?
I mainly shoot outside, in and around the LA area. I love the freedom of choosing my own natural backdrop.

Any upcoming projects ?

I have a few things in the works. Veering in a more contemporary direction, less focus on the face. I'll also be doing a lot of traveling in the near future and am looking forward to shooting along the way. :)

As a professional photographer do you find it harder to find a clientele now that instagram is using tons of editing tools ? Does it make harder to find people ?

Not necessarily, I think it's kind of cool really. you never know who will see your work with the accessibility of social media and I think the outreach is tremendous.

Any tips to anyone who would like to follow your path?
What would be your best advice ?
As someone who is really in the process myself and learning more all the time, I'll say something that a good friend and brilliant Photographer Scott Toepfer told me a while ago:
"Just keep shooting, nothing bad can come from you doing what you love and constantly putting your work out there." I think about that all the time.

Her long dedication and passion drove her to where she is right now.

for more photographs , here is where you could find her work.
